Dog Events

What are Dog Events?

Dog Trials and Tests are performance events that give dogs and their owners the ability to have fun, show off their training, and experience teamwork.  Examples of dog trials include obedience, rally, and agility; examples of tests include tracking, AKC Canine Good Citizen, and Therapy Dog.  Workshops and seminars are events that give handlers an opportunity for continuing education in a particular dog sport or introduction to a new area of interest.  CCTC and CCDS offer various dog events throughout the year.  View Upcoming Dog Events...

Who may participate?

Participation in dog events is generally open to any handler/dog team with some restrictions depending upon the event.  Trials and Tracking Tests use a written “premium” to outline the details of that event.   Workshops, seminars, AKC Canine Good Citizen Test and Therapy Dog Test may use a one sheet notice with basic information printed.   Those premiums and circulars are posted to this website and listed on the calendar.

How do I volunteer?

Holding dog events requires the work of many volunteers.  Some events have a person responsible for coordinating volunteers.  Every dog event has a point of contact.  For trials and tests it is usually the trial or test secretary and their contact information is listed in the premium.  This is the best place to start when volunteering for an event.
